A. The Hall of Fame Committee shall be appointed by the President with recommendations by the District Presidents. The Committee will consist of one (1) member from each District. Each Committee member shall serve a three (3) year term. The Chairman of the Committee shall be appointed by the President each year on a rotating basis. Any Committee Member whose service is terminated during their three (3) year tenure will be replaced by the President to serve only the remainder of the term of the retiring person. This Committee shall screen and will use the scoring guide (available from Committee members or District Presidents) in order to recommend to the Board of Directors persons who in their opinion are deemed worthy in accordance with the criteria established in the following paragraphs.

B. QUALIFICATION FOR NOMINATION FOR THE PLAYER’S AWARD:

1. In order to be nominated to the Hall of Fame for the Player’s Award, a person must have a record of at least seven (7) years in shuffleboard as a player and achieved a minimum of sixty (60) points as per the scoring guide. Demonstration of outstanding contributions by serving as an executive officer, tournament director or by making other noteworthy contributions at the District or State ASA level may be considered as qualitative factors.

2. A player must have an outstanding record of having won trophies/prizes and shown true sportsmanship in :
a) ASA sanctioned tournaments,
b) Arizona State Team Championship Playoffs, and
c) Any Arizona non-sanctioned tournament having at least one hundred (100) entries.

3. Intra-park, inter-park and Senior Olympics tournaments are not to be considered for Hall of Fame awards.

C. TO QUALIFY FOR NOMINATION FOR THE SPECIAL AWARD, the nominee must have an outstanding record of performance over at least seven (7) years as an ASA member for the benefit of shuffleboard as an executive, administrator, tournament official, or combination thereof, and he/she shall have achieved a minimum of thirty (30) points as per the scoring guide.

1. GUIDANCE FOR THE SCORING GUIDE CATEGORY "OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS" is as follows:
a ) Subject to adjustment by the State Hall of Fame Committee and an upper limit of ten (10) points, up to three (3) points may be assigned in each of the following categories for extraordinary tenure and/or accomplishments at the State and/or District levels—Officer(s), Tournament Director(s), Tournament Charter(s), Court Construction/Maintenance, Shuffleboard Instruction/Promotion, and Shuffleboard Literature.

D. NOMINATIONS TO THE HALL OF FAME :

1. It is the privilege of each member of ASA to make one nomination in each membership year to the Hall of Fame in either category.

2. Nominations shall be sent to the Chairman of the Committee.

3. The Committee shall prepare and submit a list of candidates for the Hall of Fame awards to the Board of Directors. The list shall not contain more than twice the number to be elected. A full resume of accomplishments of each nominee shall be sent to the ASA secretary to be mailed with the next ASA meeting notice of the regular annual spring meeting.

4. A full record of accomplishments of each nominee shall accompany the letter of nomination. All shall be typed on 8 ½ X 11 inch paper with the letter of nomination on the front and the list of achievements on the reverse side resulting in a one page nomination.
5. The names of those eligible nominees not elected must be resubmitted to be voted upon in subsequent years.

E. ELECTION TO THE HALL OF FAME :

1. Elections shall be held at the regular annual spring meeting.
2. The Board of Directors may elect two (2) in the Player Category and one (1) in the Special Awards Category in any membership year.
3. Highest number of votes is needed for election with a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of ballots being attained.
4. On the official listing of ASA HALL OF FAME MEMBERS, those elected under the SPECIAL AWARDS category shall have an asterisk (*) denoted after their names.

F. Any ASA member separately qualified may be nominated and elected to both the Player
and Special Awards Categories of the ASA Hall of Fame.

G. Any changes desired in this procedure must be submitted in detail in writing and mailed with the notice of an ASA meeting. A two thirds (2/3) vote of those ASA Board Members present and voting, a quorum being present, is required to approve any changes.
